I’m sure you own blogs, even if only one blog.

Blogs are great tools for creating websites easily. More importantly, blogs have enabled us to share our knowledge and opinions easily with other people.

But the thing with blogs is that there are too many distractions. I mean, if you try to build a list with your blog, you’re guaranteed to get poor results.

For starters, there is the sidebar that links to other websites. Then there are commentators’ links. Banner links. Etc. All of these are outage.

The week in review

This has been a very enlightening and challenging week. My daily routine is starting to form a pattern and pretty soon this network marketing thing is going to become second nature. I know there are certain things that have to be done in order to be successful and they must be carried out each and every day. How they get carried out and in what priority is a personal decision but they must get carried out.

Visiting forums, reviewing business offers, managing links and advertising, tracking campaigns, article writing and submission. Let’s not forget website management, search engine submissions, prospecting and list building. What about product reviews and development. We found a new product, we review it, get it into our sites, and begin marketing of said product. This in itself is a time consuming process but is definitely required if we are going to move forward with our business.

We must continually build our list. Lists! No matter what organization you are affiliated with you must have customers! One time visits are not going to sustain you very long so we must continually massage and build our client data base and try to achieve loyal and happy customers. With out a customer base that is continually growing and expanding we are dead in the water. There is no real secret to building a client base we just have to remember that it takes time. It will not happen over night but instead is a living, breathing organism that must be fed and nourished. In time we will have a huge data base of leads that will help us create a good income. Lets face reality- we are in sales even though we call it network marketing. It might be affiliate programs, digital products or hard consumables. It may simply be information we are selling but we have to market and sell our selves don’t we? No matter what we are doing on the internet we are all in sales one way or another and therefore must have a LIST. I think we have beat this one to death

Moving forward lets discuss a simple thing like visiting forums. We visit forums in order to share information and experiences both positive and negative. I am not talking about chat rooms. I am discussing business related forums like the Warrior forum. This is the place I go to get free helpful information to run my business. I might even find a business partner or new product. The possibilities are endless! I try to visit each and every day to see what is going on and to assist my fellow marketers if I can. I do not go there just to submit responses that are worthless in order to let my signature file, small ad, be seen. That is not the purpose of business forums. Submit responses only if it you have a valid and meaningful response. This is not the place to air out your laundry or mass market your business.

Working from home has its benefits but it also has its requirements just like any other business. It requires your time and commitments each and every business day!

Marlon’s Cheat Sheet for Generating Leads

Here’s Marlon’s cheat sheet for generating leads online:

1. First you need to know how much you can afford to spend
to get someone to join your email list.

a. After people opt in, you’re going to present them with
an immediate offer, either on the thank you page, or the
page after they confirm their email.

I’m going to call this "sale 1."

a. Count the total revenue generated from sale 1,
including upsells and downsells

This is the KEY. When they buy sale 1, it’s critical you
immediately have upsells and downsells.

b. For example sake, let’s say after they opt in, you present an
offer for $27 and, on average, including a $250 upsell and $50
downsell (if they decline the $250 offer), you net out $50.

If you’re converting 10% of opt ins, that is $5 per opt in. Now,
you know you can conservatively spend $2.50 to get an opt in. I’m
going to use this $2.50 as an example.

You have to calculate your own numbers.

2. Critical points for your name capture (or squeeze) page

a. You need to be capturing 10% to 15% minimum. Some of my friends
take this up to 30% on ppc traffic. I’ve heard higher figures but
they are probably from traffic other than ppc.

b. Use a tested headline

==> Scan your subject lines for something that did well and pull
from it for the squeeze page.

==> If you have pay-per-click ads running, take one that did really
well and turn THAT into a headline.

==> Model other headlines you KNOW are working well

==> Look at the posts in forums in your market with very high views.
Borrow those subject lines — creatively. Model don’t steal.

c. If you can put together a hot screen capture video or real video,
this will likely increase opt ins.

d. Make sure your opt in box is above the fold of the screen, so
people don’t have to scroll to get to it.

3. Adapt your squeeze page for Google

a. There’s a nasty rumor that Google doesn’t allow squeeze pages.
Search stuff on Google a lot and bookmark ALL squeeze pages you find.
There are still MANY out there that are working.

b. Look to see if the successful squeeze pages have links to
content, privacy policies, contact info.

4. Start a swipe file

a. Save squeeze pages to a squeeze page folder
b. Save hot sales letters to a sales letter folder
c. Save great google ads that you keep seeing over and over to a
ppc folder
d. Save awesome screen capture videos to a video folder

5. Run the numbers for pay-per-click

If you can spend $2.50 to get an opt in, and 1 out of 10 clicks
opts in, then you can spend .25 per click.

===> If you can’t realistically get your traffic for .25 click, then
tweak your numbers.

– Add an upsell
— Add a downsell
— Add video to boost your conversions
— Do something else to improve your numbers.

6. Test banners on Google

a. Banners are a goldmine if you can get ones that convert. Test on
Google site targeting.
b. If they work, test them on Adbrite.

7. Buy banners on forums

– Forums can be a little goldmine

8. Buy banners on highly targeted blogs

9. Track everything

You can use hypertracker or adminder. But there is a monthly fee for
those. Automateyourwebsite.com has an adtracker built in.

10. Know your tracking software in and out.

– If you can pass variables to it, learn what this means and how
to do it.
— Learn about sids, tids and the other tracking suffixes

11. Have a GREAT freebie

a. The freebie you offer on your squeeze page is ALL important
b. The title is everything
c. You can offer something as simple as a 1-page report like Agora
does all the up to a free ebook like Ben Hart does.
d. Steal from your winning subject lines and ppc ads for the title
of your freebie.

12. The more robust your back end, the greater your freedom for
generating leads on the front end.

a. Start a back-end swipe file where you save product ideas for
back ends that others are using.
b. Create a back-end swipe file where you save videos and sales
letters for back-end products.
c. Study back-end revenue generating sales letters, videos,
webinars and teleseminars. Get the recordings and save them for
reference.

13. If all else fails, sponsor teleseminars and webinars where
other sell their big ticket back ends and you make 1/2.

Everyone is saying that you have to have a list? The money is in the list! finally you realize that you require a large opt-in list. So, after studying countless reports about numerous articles about people making money with a list. Finally you decide to have your own. That’s when it hits you, you thought you have read all that there is to learn about lists. You have observed their guidelines and still you were not able to earn revenue.

You may even be losing revenue. Perhaps you’re paying ghost writers to write articles for you., Even with a huge list, if a small portion of your subscibers buy from you. You will lose income. You’ll see that after a month or two once you examine your opt-in figures and sales figures.

What might have gone wrong? How come others succeeded where you’ve failed? The first mistake most people make is that they plunged straight in. They picked a subject you thouht might be popular and would make you revenue. This is not the case. Simply because you wrote to people from your mailing list doesn’t mean they’re going to buy immediately.

I’ll offer some advice, for those of you who already have a list and are yet to succeed, you’ll have the abililty to rejuvenate your failed online venture. For those of you who are just starting out, here are 3 fast and easy methods to establish a fruitful opt-in list.

First of all, Create trust with your customers and your products first of all. Merely launching your opt-in list would not establish you as an expert and a credible seller. Send several articles and reports first prior to you starting an opt-in list. Write about the topic you have experience in that relates to your site. Try to ask questions and helpfull info in forums first to increase knowledge about your buyers like their wants and needs and target those exact wants and needs.

Signup in forums of additional sites too. make sure to provide expert advice and comment. Once people have confidence in you, you’ll be able to begin your own opt-in list. You could build up a list with other forum members. You’ll be able to ask them to join your list. Friends are always good customers. Put up a link to your web site so that they may be able to learn what you’re business is all about.

The certain truth is, the profit will only come in when the consumers and subscribers believe and trust in you. They desire a product or service that could be a good value for their hard earned money. Most people are simply not going to purchase something form you if they if they don’t know who you are.

2) Find a product or service that people want and need. Although it may not be your forte, if you offer a service and product that you’ve researched and learned about substantially, you can carry it on forward. Commit your time, effort and money that you could sell as well as the customers or subscribers of your opt-in list could apply.

Although it’s true that it’s better to offer a product that interests you, there might not be many people with the same interest. If you sell a product that isn’t exclusively popular or searched for often then it may not earn you a profit. I would suggest you start with good research and you’ll see the profits come. Also supply your list with some promotional material that they could really use and also spread around to friends.

3) Socialize and get to know other owners of opt-in lists owners. This is essentially beneficial particularly if it is someone who’s already set in motion a successful opt-in list. These are people that have the experience in this venture and experience is still the best teacher. Although there are many reports available to you on the web, there’s nothing like a first hand account from somebody you trust.

Experienced list owners will be able to tell you what to do and what won’t work since they have gone through it. Although different situations happen for different people, the general concept can still be very helpful. There are numerous things to avoid and these folks will be able to tell you which ones.

Building a successful list does not just materialise overnight. There are numerous steps to follow and work to be done on your side. Lists are made-up from scratch, as you grow your list, You should also be sure to maintain the quality of your list. Make sure to keep it updated and free of unsubscribers. just be sure that your subscriber base is satisfied and they’ll be willing to purchase from you.
